Consortium Benchmarking of the Service Portfolio
Client: Consortium of industrial companies
The Challenge
Several industrial companies wanted their IT service costs and qualities to be assessed not in isolation but in a direct comparison with one another — following a cafeteria principle (selectable service packages) instead of a rigid uniform benchmark. The challenge: a comparable data basis given very heterogeneous internal service definitions.
Our Solution
Structuring of the service portfolios along a uniform grid, setting up an 80/20 and alternative 40/40/20 evaluation model (focus services vs. breadth services), moderation between consortium partners, preparation of robust peer-to-peer comparisons.
Results
First robust comparative service picture across all consortium partners, concrete fields of action per participant, blueprint for repeatable benchmark rounds.
